Powering Governmental and Naval Fleets

Delivering Trusted Power for Government and Defence Applications

Across the Middle East, government and naval authorities are increasingly seeking power solutions that combine proven performance with intelligent control. As the authorised distributor of mtu, a Rolls-Royce solution, in the UAE, Iraq, and Bahrain, Al Masaood Power Division continues to strengthen its role as a trusted partner to the region’s defence and governmental marine sectors.

With over five decades of regional experience, the division delivers advanced propulsion and control technologies that support naval operations, enhance fleet performance, and ensure long-term reliability. From engine supply and integration to maintenance, remanufacturing, and training, the division offers complete solutions that meet the most demanding requirements.

Recently, Al Masaood Power Division hosted two specialised technical forums focused on mtu marine and governmental applications. These sessions provided a collaborative platform for engineers and industry partners to explore the latest mtu innovations, including propulsion systems, NautIQ digital solutions, lifecycle cost optimisation, and augmented reality (AR) training tools. By facilitating open technical dialogue, Al Masaood Power Division continues to share global best practices while strengthening regional expertise in naval and defence power systems.

Superior Performance with mtu Series 4000 and 8000

The mtu Series 4000 and 8000 engines are designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern naval vessels. Known for their exceptional power density, fuel efficiency, and reliability, these engines are trusted worldwide in patrol boats, frigates, and landing platform dock (LPD) vessels.

Compared with equivalent MAN models, mtu engines offer higher efficiency, smoother operation, and longer service intervals. These advantages can significantly lower lifecycle costs and enhance operational readiness. For upcoming regional projects, including future LPD-size vessels and the Al Falaj class, these benefits make mtu engines a compelling choice for naval procurement teams seeking maximum performance and reliability.

Intelligent Vessel Management with mtu NautIQ

As naval and governmental fleets evolve, digitalisation is reshaping how vessels are managed and monitored. The mtu NautIQ Master and NautIQ Bridge systems provide integrated vessel automation and bridge control solutions designed to improve operational efficiency and situational awareness.

Even for non-mtu projects currently under construction, such as LPDs at PT PAL Indonesia or Al Falaj class vessels at ST Marine and ADSB, these systems can deliver significant benefits. The mtu NautIQ range enables centralised monitoring, optimised decision-making, and safer navigation, providing operators with complete control over every aspect of vessel performance.

Supporting Legacy Fleets: Baynunah Class Engine Strategy

For existing fleets such as the Baynunah class vessels powered by mtu 16V595 engines, Al Masaood Power Division continues to provide full lifecycle support. Through its state-of-the-art service centre, the division offers tailored solutions including remanufactured unit replacements, overhaul planning, and service scheduling, ensuring that operational availability is maintained with minimal downtime.

With factory-trained technicians and genuine mtu parts, every intervention upholds the highest standards of quality, safety, and reliability.

Optimising Lifecycle Costs with Smart Load Management

Through detailed Lifecycle Cost (LCC) analyses, Al Masaood Power Division demonstrates how intelligent load management can significantly reduce operational costs. Using live data from mtu engines, the team illustrates how variations in loading conditions affect fuel consumption and overall efficiency.

By aligning engine operation with optimal load profiles, governmental and naval clients can achieve measurable savings and extend engine life, contributing to both economic and environmental goals.

mtu AR Technology: A Step Forward in Training and Maintenance

At the Al Masaood Power Division Training Centre, engineers and technicians experience the future of maintenance through mtu Augmented Reality (AR) technology. This innovation

enables interactive, real-time diagnostics and training sessions on live engines, enhancing precision, safety, and speed in service operations.

Demonstrations on training engines provide a hands-on understanding of how AR tools can support field teams, reduce downtime, and ensure consistent service quality across fleets.

Remanufacturing and Exchange Engines for Operational Readiness

For naval and governmental clients, operational continuity is essential. Al Masaood Power Division offers comprehensive remanufacturing and exchange engine solutions to ensure fleets remain mission-ready.

Each remanufactured mtu engine undergoes a complete overhaul process using genuine parts and certified procedures, delivering “as-new” performance with reduced lead times and cost advantages. This service model ensures that fleet operations continue seamlessly while minimising capital expenditure and downtime.

Empowering National Guard Projects with mtu Technology

Beyond naval applications, the National Guard Command benefits from mtu Series 2000 and 4000 engines across various multipurpose vessel projects.

  • The mtu Series 2000 delivers superior acceleration, compact design, and high efficiency, outperforming comparable CAT C18 models in 16-metre patrol boats equipped with waterjets.
  • The mtu Series 4000 sets the standard for larger vessels such as 45-metre patrol boats and 65-metre multipurpose vessels, offering enhanced power delivery and reliability under challenging conditions.

Together with mtu NautIQ digital systems, these solutions create an intelligent, integrated ecosystem for mission-critical marine operations.

Discover how Al Masaood Power Division supports national fleets with reliable, efficient, and intelligent power systems.
