MTU develops and produces large high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships and heavy land, rail and defence vehicles, drive systems for use in the oil and gas industry as well as power generation.

Volvo Penta is a global supplier of power solutions to marine and industrial applications. In 2017, Al Masaood Group was awarded the exclusive Yacht Series Support Center by Volvo Penta to provide all yachts equipped with their advanced Inboard Performance System (IPS) and engines in the Middle East region with the company’s exclusive Yacht Series Support Service.  Volvo Penta has 19 such dealerships in Europe, and this is the first such arrangement to be dedicated to the Middle East.

Al Masaood became the UAE distributor of MTU Friedrichshafen in 1982. The relationship was strengthened by extending the area of responsibility of Al Masaood to the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2011. In 2013, Gulf Craft and Al Masaood jointly announced a “Preferred Partner” agreement with MTU, with the UAE-based yacht builder recommending its clients the MTU powered diesel engines as part of its preferred propulsion systems in its superyachts, reflecting the trend for bigger builds from the UAE-based superyacht builder.
